The Enterprise Systems department (ES) is responsible for working with functional business partners in the selection, design, deployment, and support of business applications globally. For large, enterprise-wide programs, ES personnel work in conjunction with the Program Management Office (PMO) to successfully deliver against project objectives - typically leading the applications-related technical workstreams. ES is also responsible for providing the company with a consistent and repeatable Systems Development Lifecycle methodology (SDLC). This provides the mechanism for ensuring consistency and repeatability in how applications are delivered across the enterprise.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

The Director of IT Business Analytics & Technical Services will be a senior leader within ES. Their primary customer base will be his/her peer departments within ES, but will often partner with peers within Finance and Sales & Marketing. The position has responsibility for the enterprise-wide Business Intelligence Competency Center (Gilead IT s centralized group for providing Business Intelligence / Analytics / Enterprise Planning capabilities). This position will also have responsibility for managing a group of highly technical resources (Technical Services) that provide common services across the ES department. Services within the scope of this team s charter include DBA and Application Middleware capabilities. General responsibilities for this position will include (but are not limited to) the following:

Partners with key cross-functional leaders to understand the needs of the business, and works to ensure that Business Analytics & Technical Services resources are properly aligned with ES/Business priorities.
Directs the planning and coordination of all Business Intelligence / Analytics-related initiatives (i.e., Financial Analytics, Enterprise Planning, Sales Call Reporting, Supply Chain Dashboard, Drug Safety Reporting, etc.).

Leads and facilitates the evaluation and recommendation of new technologies or capabilities that can be applied across ES.
Prepares system development cost estimates, budgets, and schedules.
Prepares and presents project proposals to management and business partner departments.
Reviews current status of business analytics capabilities and prepares recommendations for system improvements.
Monitors and manages the business intelligence / analytics project portfolio and reports on status.
Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Other key responsibilities include the following:

Contributes to setting the overall ES department agenda and operating practices;
Works with peers to develop well-rounded personnel across ES via complete and actionable development plans for all employees.


Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's or equivalent required, MBA or equivalent advanced degree desired
Minimum 12 years work experience, including at least 5 years in a managerial/leadership role
Broad IT management experience, with particular emphasis on Business Intelligence / Analytics-related capability delivery required
Experience specifically with Oracle s OBIEE / Hyperion and/or Cognos BI / EP platforms strongly desired
Experience with the use of SDLC methodologies in project delivery
Experience in an FDA-regulated environment is strongly desired
