Assign and direct the daily activities of security personnel. Manage security personnel through activities of training, coaching, counseling, disciplining, rewarding/recognition, special assignments, and performance planning. Ensure proprietary Security Technicians and contracted security personnel are appropriately trained, managed, and directed.
Serve as the electronic access control administrator for the St. Joseph, Elwood, and Cosby sites. Support issuance of cardkey identification cards and provide appropriate access to employees and contractors.
Manage the physical security systems and electronic access to areas containing controlled substances. Manage and safeguard records and assure employees have received site and government clearance prior to being provided with access. Perform quarterly testing of security alarm systems.
Manage, issue, and track restricted keys at sites mentioned in purpose above. Perform audits associated with general security procedures, physical security systems, keys, and compliance at all sites.
Conduct investigations as directed and provide security-related information to site management for investigations of alleged employee misconduct.
Perform special duties and lead projects as assigned by Site Director or immediate supervisor. Manage the security budget and site enhancements as directed by Manager.
Develop and provide security-related training to department and site personnel as needed or requested. Provide security orientation training to new employees.
Maintain qualifications and training requirements in order to participate in the site Select Agent and Toxin Program. Ensure only government approved individuals have been given unrestricted access (keys and cardkeys) to areas containing select agents.
Develop security-related standard operating procedures and identify and make recommendations for the installation of security systems in order to minimize the potential for theft, loss, vandalism, and acts of unauthorized access.
Performs all company business in accordance with all regulations (EEO, FDA, etc) and company policies and procedures. When violations are noted/observed they are to be immediately reported to management. Demonstrated high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts in order to maintain BIVI's excellent reputation in the community

This position requires technical knowledge on standard security program elements as well as specialization in risk and threat assessment and management.
Work related security experience of 10 years with a high school diploma or equivalency. A degree in criminology or criminal justice can be substituted for the required security experience. Must be proficient in the use of a computer for tracking purposes, the completion of assessments/audits, SEST's and reports. PowerPoint, Windows, Excel and Access computer knowledge are needed.
Must possess good written and oral communication skills. Must be fluent in the English language.
Must possess the ability to make logical conclusions and recommendations based on facts and observations.
Must have good reasoning ability.
Must possess supervisory skills and investigatory techniques.
Must possess and maintain a valid Iowa driver's license.
Must possess time management skills and coordination of project skills. Must be confidential.
Must be organized, dedicated and professionally respond to site emergency situations.
