Position Summary: The primary role will be to assist/lead in the design of experiments for pipeline and commercial chemistry processes in the Technical Operations Manufacturing group. The major responsibilities of this position are to design and execute experiments in multi scale process chemistry and to act as scientific liaison to the early phase development team. Additional responsibilities include data analysis, participation in project teams, maintenance of detailed records of experiments, and management of chemistry staff. The work is highly collaborative and requires good communication skills and a desire to be part of a team. Minimum Basic Qualifications : Master s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field

5 years of experience in Chemical Process Development

The ability to independently plan and execute typical organic chemistry reactions and analyze the results

Experience Required: Broad experience in the industrial synthesis, isolation and characterization of organic compounds; understanding demonstrated by the independent development of processes

Standard laboratory analytical procedures (eg HPLC, spectroscopy) for reaction characterization

Data recording, analysis, evaluation and communication

Participation in pilot scale (or larger) chemical processing

Experience in managing staff

Desired Competencies and Qualifications: Productive hands-on lab performer

Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team

Technical Transfer experience and the ability to manage projects at CMO s/CRO s

The ability to multi-task

Excellent organizational skills

Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) including manufacture of pharmaceutical products

Work Environment: Typical organic chemistry/downstream processing laboratory environment, bench to pilot scale

Physical Demands: The ability to perform bench to pilot scale organic chemical reactions and isolations, including extensive manual manipulation of equipment and chemical mixtures, and moderate lifting
