Millipore's Drug Discovery Unit in St. Charles, Missouri is a leading developer of research immunodiagnostic kits for diabetes, obesity and other related metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. We have a BIOCHEMICAL TECHNOLOGIST position open for the Multiplex Product Line at our St. Charles, Missouri facility
 
 
 
Carries out basic immunoassay procedures and prepares bulk biological formulations for kit components. Also follows protocols in protein chemistry and bioanalytical procedures for in-process testing. Must have a basic working knowledge of immunological assay and protein physical methods (desalting, solutions preparation, concentration determination, and conjugation steps). Duties include manufacturing of immunochemical based components for various kits (multiplex and other), in-process QC testing, and critical dispensing. Performs all tasks as defined by MMP (Master Manufacturing Protocols), and conducts all activities following guidelines prescribed by current good manufacturing practices (cGMP's). 
 
 
SUMMARY
Manufacturer all products associated with the Multiplex product line, including manufacturing of product and in-process QC testing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with Multiplex Production Supervisor to make sure that production of all Multiplex products is scheduled and manufactured in a timely manner. Employee is required to follow and complete all MMPs (Master Manufacturing Procedures) and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and worksheets associated with production of assigned product. Employee will assist the department supervisor in maintaining adequate raw material inventories utilized in production. Work with department supervisor and purchasing clerk to order or re-order needed materials. Must have a basic working knowledge of immunological assay and protein physical methods (desalting, solutions preparation and concentration determination) and protein conjugation methods.
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to develop/conduct in-process assays for Multiplex production. Assure proper storage for inventory control of raw materials and dispensed reagents.
- Perform all tasks utilizing good laboratory practices, as defined by current good manufacturing practices (cGMP's). This includes good record keeping, maintaining a clean working environment and following all safety procedures.
- Assure successful transfer of new products to manufacturing in coordination with Technology Transfer Coordinator and R&D staff
- Promote process and procedural improvements by meeting frequently with the Multiplex Production Supervisor and other team members. The employee may be requested to write and revise Multiplex MMPs, SOPS and worksheets under the direction of the Production Supervisor and Quality Assurance Manager.
- May assist Technical Support with customer contact, including technical questions, trouble-shooting and customer complaints; helps promote and maintain good customer relations.
- Work as a team player with everyone in the Manufacturing Department and may assist with production processes other than the Multiplex line, such as RIA and ELISA products. May assist others in labeling, dispensing and packaging, as needed.
