Position Objective:
To provide electrical and mechanical services for the assigned Invitrogen location(s) including equipment and facility installation, repair and preventative maintenance.
Essential Functions:
Perform equipment and facility installations and repairs as needed by customers or determined through routine audits including but not limited to carpentry, electrical, plumbing (boilers, stills, DI-units, etc), refrigeration, welding and light construction. Work with various departments to troubleshoot and resolve issues. Complete emergency repairs as needed.

Complete preventative maintenance on equipment and building systems as established in department procedures and audits, and required by regulatory agencies. Order and maintain inventory of spare parts, consumables and change tooling equipment.

Perform manufacturing equipment tooling set-ups and changes, and equipment cleaning.

Monitor Facilities and Manufacturing operating equipment on a daily basis, troubleshooting problems and inefficiencies and recommending possible solutions.

Coordinate the services of outside vendors when necessary.

Identify existing and potential operational problems and inefficiencies and recommend resolutions.

Assist in developing and maintaining required documentation including but not limited to blue prints, plans, and permits according to Company SOP’s and the requirements of external parties. Document daily facilities and manufacturing equipment operation and maintenance.

May perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.

Nature and Scope:
This position interacts with all levels of internal customers and external vendors. That interaction requires solid communication, customer service and technical skills in identifying needs and problems and implementing efficient solutions that are cost effective. Effectiveness in this role also requires thorough working knowledge of the assigned site’s facilities and equipment, the related regulatory requirements, and the relevant technical training required to service them. The incumbent works on moderately complex problems where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations. Exercises judgment within generally defined procedures in selecting methods and for obtaining results. The incumbent normally receives no instruction on routine work and general instruction on new assignments.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent with technical certification in more than one relevant mechanical and/or electrical trade required.
Experience:
At least five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, including experience repairing HVAC/refrigeration systems required. Thorough working knowledge of relevant systems and equipment and the related regulatory requirements needed; mastery of more than one trade required. Solid communications, customer service and technical skills necessary.

Working Conditions:
Works in a lab, manufacturing, and/or warehouse environment. May on a continuous basis walk, bend and lift up to 40 lbs. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Occasional periods of high noise level, which requires hearing protection, may exist. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Occasional local travel may be required.
