The West Point Laboratory Shared Services (LSS) organization is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to fill an open position as Associate Director, Laboratory Shared Services. The Associate Director role will be responsible to provide customer-focused support to the three major laboratory areas within the West Point Laboratory Operations (WPLO) organization including: Chemistry & Virology, Microbiology and Sterility Assurance and Incoming Materials.
Primary Responsibilities and Scope of Initiatives
Model Area Leadership
Facilitate a culture of Continuous Improvement and problem solving through implementing Model Area tools across the WPLO organization | Model Area Tier process, Plan for the Day, 8-step Problem Solving
The goal of this initiative is to implement rapid problem solving techniques and drive concentrated focus on completing problem solving and projects in an organized efficient manner
The Model Area approach has been implemented in one WPLO Lab and one responsibility for this role will be to provide support for transition to the other WPLO Labs
WPLO Financial Facilitator
Lead the Operating Budget, headcount and overtime functions for the WPLO Lab teams
Interact with the West Point Quality Operations (WPQO) Financial Lead to provide support for the periodic Operating Budget tasks: annual operating budget Profit Plan, monthly reporting and efficiency tracking
WPLO Portfolio Lead
Responsible for the WPLO project portfolio and facilitating right first time, on-time project milestone completion
Provide Project Management consulting for project leads to ensure timely completion of project milestones and escalate obstacles
Attend regular Product Franchise portfolio meetings to provide portfolio status to escalate issues, establish priority and solicit resources
Execute critical WPLO projects requiring specialized project management and problem solving skills
These projects typically are unplanned and typically require rapid response for a critical business need for a 3-6 month time period
Education Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Chemistry Sciences or Engineering.
Required Experience and Skills
Minimum nine years experience in a technology/operations supporting process or analytics in the Pharmaceutical Industry
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification required
Demonstrated strong project leadership of cross-functional teams supporting critical projects to deliver successful completion to project target milestone dates
Demonstrated strategic skills to develop innovative solutions for undefined problems and business processes to meet the needs of internal customers and project sponsors
Ability to work effectively across boundaries to build a strong collaborative work relation with other Company functional areas and external partners
Preferred Experience and Skills
LSS Black Belt certification
Diverse experience with vaccine product testing analytical methods
Demonstrated strong project management and leadership skills for cross-functional projects
