Board-Certified Chief Therapeutic Medical Physicist (CTMP)/Board Certified Therapeutic Medical Physicist

Posterity Group is seeking experienced Board-Certified Chief Therapeutic Medical Physicist (CTMP/TMP) with the Radiation Oncology Clinical Care Center (ROCCC), VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS) Baltimore VA Medical Center (VAMC).
- Manages the development and implementation of advanced techniques and special initiatives in radiotherapy.
- Collaborates closely with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, therapists, and other team members to fully support day to day clinical operations.
- Board certified or board eligible and performs the depth and breadth of clinical practice of therapeutic medical physics.
- Plans, delivers, verifies, and monitors quality assurance of radiotherapy at all levels of complexity.
- Recommends optimal modality and treatment technique for the patient; evaluates the quality, safety, and accuracy of radiation treatments planned and delivered to patients, thus ensuring that radiation dose is carried out correctly and completely; and safely operates all radiation planning and delivery devices.
- Implements radiation therapy of outstanding technical difficulty and responsibility, providing knowledge-based solutions where no rule-based solutions exist.
- Plans and directs a specialized program encompassing all physics and clinical aspects of external beam and brachytherapy treatment procedures from treatment simulation to treatment planning to actual treatment delivery.
- Designs radiation therapy treatment plans, monitors the accuracy of treatment data recorded in the patient's medical records, provides consultation to the radiation oncologist regarding difficult treatment cases, and performs patient specific treatment validation measurements.
- Participates in the development medical physics policies and procedures for the delivery and quality assessment of advanced treatment modalities such as intensity modulated radiation therapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy and brachytherapy.
- Ensures regulatory compliance within the Radiation Safety Officer's radiation safety program.
- Safely utilizes and properly operates all radiation oncology equipment, and is therefore qualified and responsible for educating radiation oncology team members including radiation oncologists, radiation therapists, and dosimetrists in safety issues that relate to radiotherapy planning and delivery.
- Completes additional departmental tasks as assigned.
Requirements
at the PhD Level
- Must have at least five (5) years of documented post-board experience after board certification
- And at least three (3) years of continuous work experience within the last five (5) years to ensure the CTMP's (post-training) experience is current and relevant.
- CTMP must also have the following minimum years of experience, expertise, and knowledge on the following procedures, equipment, and software:
Five (5) years of experience - Documentation detailing experience in performing QA procedures. Sun Nuclear/SunCheck experience preferred.
Three (3) years of experience - Documentation in CV noting Therapeutic Medical Physicists understand ACR or ASTRO APeX Accreditation standards.
Three (3) years of experience - Varian Linear Accelerators: Edge (or equivalent).
Three (3) years of experience -Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) including Cone Beam CT (following standards of TG-142). Three (3) year of experience - Eclipse treatment planning system; and ARIA record & verify system, including the following treatment modalities: 2D/3D Conformal, SRS, SRT, SBRT, and IMRT/VMAT (following standards of TG-53).
Three (3) years of experience - IMRT QA: MapCheck I/II (or equivalent).
Three (3) years of experience - Siemens SOMATOM go.Open Pro CT Simulator (or equivalent) (following standards of TG-66). Successfully perform one (1) acceptance testing (i.e., work with vendor to ensure proper working conditions during installation) on a linear accelerator.
Successfully perform one (1) commission of (i.e., gathered necessary measurements or data) a linear accelerator for a treatment planning system.
at the Master's Level:
- Candidate can either be master's Level or PhD. Must be Board Certified with at least two years of continuous working experience within the last three years to ensure TMP's experience is current and relevant.
- TMP must also have the following minimum years of experience, expertise, and knowledge on the following procedures, equipment and software:
Two (2) years of experience - Documentation detailing experience in performing QA procedures. Sun Nuclear/SunCheck experience preferred.
One (1) year of experience - Therapeutic Medical Physics understanding of ACR Accreditation standards or ASTRO APeX accreditation standards.
One (1) year of experience - Varian Linear Accelerators: Edge (or equivalent).
