The Director, Internal Communications is accountable for the development and execution of a comprehensive, multi-channel, engaging U.S. internal communications plan that articulates DSI's business goals and values, and helps to influence a positive culture and engaged U.S. workforce. Counsel senior global leaders (i.e., R&D) regarding internal communications best practice and support execution of global communications within DSI.


Proactively engage senior leaders to plan effective internal communications, including cross-DSI and other employee events; develop and refine internal presentations and talking points for DSI executives. Build and execute internal communications to DSI employees and other internal stakeholders that are relevant and informative as well as tailored as necessary.

  • Counsel communicators throughout the organization on effective channel strategies to ensure appropriate company information reaches employees in an organized and effective fashion that optimizes messaging, timing, and impact of employee engagement.
  • Develop internal networks to keep abreast of business activity, effectively listen to understand the impact of internal communication, anticipate issues and develop plans to proactively address them.
  • Create and oversee cross-DSI corporate event and communications calendar
  • Accountable for weekly DSI newsletter (DSI Connect) and other vehicles of communicating across DSI

Collaborate in various DS global corporate communications forums, including the Global R&D, Global Units and Global Corporate Communications function, to coordinate and shape internal communications programs in support of global initiatives including corporate branding, company vision, business acquisitions and partnerships, etc.

  • Partner with DSI external communications team to ensure internal consistency with external messaging and strategy, including matters affecting organizational perception and reputation and crisis response.
  • Support crisis response team and work closely with colleagues in external communications and facilities to develop an integrated communication approach for internal stakeholders

Accountable for continuous improvement of internal communications and the communication function through ongoing assessment and measurement tools to enhance user experience

  • Investigate emerging internal communications technologies and implement when appropriate.
  • Manage budget and other resources, communications agencies and contingent workers, to ensure successful development and implementation of internal communications strategies and programs.

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline required
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • 10 or More Years in communications positions; internal communications experience a must required
