Working at our Diabetes Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (DAPI) manufacturing facility you will help meet the growing demand for our treatments. Novo Nordisk expects to double production of diabetes and obesity drugs over the next decade and are currently building a new 825,000 sq. ft diabetes Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) plant in Clayton, NC next to our existing “fill and finish” manufacturing facility. Our new $2 billion API facility is expected to be operational in 2020, with 700 full-time employees responsible for the fermentation, recovery and purification of insulin and GLP1 ingredients. Position Purpose

Coordinate & manage facility services contracts/contractors to ensure that services are provided to the facility in an efficient & cost-effective manner.



  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Negotiate & manage contracts for services while improving value
  • Maintain the facilities & grounds & respond timely to facility management requests. Includes management of groundskeeping, pond maintenance, parking lots & roadways, goose/wildlife control & signage
  • Work with Security & Access Controls suppliers to provide security for exterior entrances, critical areas & employee safety
  • Manage contracts & suppliers providing food & beverage services, including but not limited to coffee/water service, vending machines & kiosks
  • Coordinate medical & first aid services & related activities (health fairs, short-term health focus events, etc.) with medical contractors & first aid suppliers
  • Work with spill response & first aid teams
  • Work with Facility Management Lead to maintain good housekeeping of facilities & grounds & proactively audit cleanliness
  • Maintain Facility Management SharePoint site & records
  • Provide back up support for waste management & fire protection systems
  • Other accountabilities, as assigned


Physical & Other Requirements

  • Ability to lift or move equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds within the facility
  • Frequently moves about building(s) to access other personnel & operational areas
  • Corrected vision to 20/30 and/or ability to pass vision screening assessment necessary to procure motorized vehicle license
  • Occasionally required to secure a motorized vehicle license & operate a motorized vehicle
  • Ability to work in areas with odors/hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves
  • Ability to work in moderate to loud noise environments with hearing protection. Ability to work in high places & confined spaces
  • Occasionally performs critical job functions in extremely cold work environments
  • Ability to work in & around an active construction site during project phase
  • Available to work hours necessary to support production & maintenance activities


Required Qualifications

  • AA/AS/AAS in engineering, business or planning, or an equivalent combination of education & experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in facilities maintenance or similar field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in negotiations of contracts & contract management
  • Building maintenance knowledge/experience


Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of security systems
  • Contract negotiations/contract management
  • Management of various fulltime contractors
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Participation in emergency response teams
  • Pharmaceutical experience a plus
  • Excellent communication & writing skills
  • Working knowledge of fire detection/suppression/prevention systems
  • Able to develop & manage action plans to achieve targets
