Plating Chemist

Overview: The plating chemist will be responsible for maintaining plating solutions through periodic chemical analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine chemical analysis on plating solutions using wet analysis techniques
  • Interpret test analysis results to evaluate chemical processes
  • Ensure timely and quality results are produced
  • Record and maintain accurate records of all analysis results
  • Monitor process operating parameters and correct deviations
  • Execute required chemical additions and changes on plating line as needed
  • Clean, maintain, and prepare laboratory equipment and samples
  • Assist in filling and emptying tanks/drums as needed
  • Assist in tank preventative maintenance and cleaning
  • Operate and troubleshoot processing line and lab equipment
  • Perform calculations as required when conducting analysis
  • Follow company and department specific safety training
  • Follow OSHA requirements


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, push, or pull drums/packages of up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work standing for long periods of time
  • Ability to pass color eye exam


Work Environment

  • Position requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, chemical resistant boots, gloves, and other PPE as needed


Qualifications:

  • Ability to use (or learn to use) Laboratory Information Management System
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and data entry
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow standard operating procedures accurately
  • Strong math skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team


Education and Experience:

  • Two-year degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent discipline, OR minimum 4 years related laboratory/industrial work experience
  • Knowledge of plating manufacturing processes and operations are a plus
  • Previous experience with atomic absorption spectroscopy is a plus
  • Previous experience running plating cell tests (hull cell) is a plus
  • Previous experience in electroplating environment or wet chemistry lab preferred



Compensation: $22.00 - $29.00 per hour based on experience
