Located in California, Stantec's Environmental Remediation Practice is looking for an experienced Principal Level Environmental Engineer to help direct, manage and implement our growing environmental services practice area.
Responsibilities
- As a "seller/doer," with an entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset, personally accountable for bringing in $1million+ (net revenue) spanning EH&S compliance, due diligence, site assessment, remediation, and hazardous materials assessment services annually. Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take active leadership role in the development of new business with new and existing clients. Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business.
- Capitalize on existing client relationships and account management to expand Stantec's profile and market share in the regional market (through a combination of excellence in technical delivery and business development).
- Direct and develop complex EH&S compliance, site investigation, remediation, and construction projects with multi-person project teams. Oversee multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
- Provide leadership in building high performing teams, managing staff performance, recruiting and retention, and mentoring personnel for overall success of the practice team.
- Develop a working understanding of Stantec's other consulting practice areas, sector model and actively support cross-selling other services to existing and new emerging clients
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- BS and/or MS in engineering, geology, science, or related discipline; professional registration preferred.
- Approximately 15-20+ years of relevant EH&S, compliance, due diligence, site investigation/remediation, hazardous material building services experience.
- Proven business development experience for large programs/contracts and client relationships supported by repeat business, including established contacts in the Southern California area.
- Consistent "seller/doer" track record of delivering annual sales of at least $1 million+ (net revenue).
- Excellent writing, communication, strategic thinking, and team building "people" skills.
- Advanced knowledge of the local regulatory climate, with proven negotiation skills with state and local regulators.
- Recognized technical expertise by the marketplace.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
