Our new $2 billion API facility is expected to be operational in 2020, with 700 full-time employees responsible for the fermentation, recovery and purification of insulin and GLP1 ingredients. Position Purpose

Ensure successful ramp-up & operation of Ethanol Columns in support of Purification & Recovery Departments. Support & own column processes as well as Ethanol System, with support from engineering technicians & Senior Specialist. Handle day-to-day challenges as well as planned & unplanned shutdowns. Support operational procedures & technical documentation related to equipment. Meet or exceed customer, business & regulatory requirements in accordance with Novo Nordisk Way. Ensure all activities are aligned with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) program.

 

Accountabilities

  • Ensure quality & safety of distillation column equipment & processes in DAPI-US
  • Ensure quality & safety of Ethanol System equipment & processes in DAPI-US
  • Ensure identification of & collaboration regarding interfaces to other processes & support systems in the project, as well as the operational part of the Site
  • Creation & participation in change & optimization related discussions related to the equipment
  • Support team in project-related tasks to ensure columns & ethanol systems efficiently achieve operational status
  • Input, review & approval of Process Module Diagrams & Process Flow Diagrams, as well as operational training material (SOPs) related to the equipment
  • Support team in maintaining schedule adherence
  • Ensure coordination & collaboration between project, operation & other site stakeholders
  • Pro-actively gather & ensure knowledge transfer to project & operation from similar production sites, ensuring optimisations across Novo Nordisk

 

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS in pharmacology, engineering, biology or related field
  • Knowledge in raw material handling & chemical preparation processes in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience with distillation column theory
  • Knowledge about requirements/expectations of regulatory authorities e.g. Food & Drug Administration (FDA)
  • Experience with Process Control Systems

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulated environment
  • Proven ability to establish & maintain networks & facilitate processes that encourage cross organizational knowledge sharing

 

Physical & Other Requirements

  • Occasionally moves equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds within the facility
  • Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands
  • Ability to be on feet for up to a 12-hour shift
  • Ability to work with fall protection
  • Constantly positions self to transfer materials within manufacturing environment. Frequently moves about the building to access other personnel & operational areas
  • Corrected vision to 20/30 and/or ability to pass vision screening assessment necessary to procure motorized vehicle license
  • Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder to service equipment. Works atop elevated positions at heights
  • Occasionally required to secure a motorized vehicle license & operate a motorized vehicle
  • Occasionally works around odorous and/or hazardous materials. Occasionally performs critical job functions in extremely cold work environments
  • Occasionally positions self within confined spaces for inspection, repair & maintenance of equipment
  • Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection
  • Able to work the hours necessary to support a 24/7 continuous manufacturing operation
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Ability to adjust schedule to work with colleagues in other international time zones
