R&D- Chemist II - Food MOB

Job Description

The chemist in this role will be responsible for leading maintenance of business projects in support of the NAR Packaging Food business. A successful candidate will be able to manage and execute on multiple projects of moderate complexity simultaneously. This position requires attention to detail and strong communication and reporting skills. Candidates should be proficient in Product Vision and understand navigation of HEARS and RMDM.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's staff, employees, and business relationships.

Responsibilities
• Establishes own timeline and priorities with minimal changes.
• Demonstrates a broader knowledge pertinent to the role.
• Formulation and evaluation of Packaging coatings.
• Responsible for planning and executing projects with moderate complexity.
• Sample preparation and application of coating samples.
• Tests piece fabrication and evaluation.
• Performs laboratory work while maintaining safety as a top priority.
• Draws sound conclusions based on observations and data.
• Writes clear, concise and effective conclusion reports.
• Communicates technical information clearly and concisely.
• Functions effectively in a team environment and acts as a mentor to newer employees.
• Interacts with other members of the technical department, quality, sales, and manufacturing to provide solutions to customer problems.
• Is a technical resource in several areas of the business in various applications and procedures.
• Designs and executes projects using DOE's and statistical programs.
• Demonstrates a personal commitment to the team by helping/assisting other employees.
• Demonstrates critical thinking skills, recognizes anomalies, but may need further direction or coaching from supervisor.
• Utilizes historical knowledge and the search engines to gather information on projects to better understand and develop a plan.
• Supports and attends customer trials.
• Supports manufacturing department in product scale-up and investigations.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
• Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Minimum 3 years industry experience.
• Demonstrated time management skills.
• Must be proficient in statistical analysis of data using Minitab and DFSS tools.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience formulating coatings.
• Must be proficient in Product Vision and HEARS.

Travel Requirements: 10%

This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H-1B visa.

Successful candidate will be required to sign an Employee Restrictive Covenant Agreement where permitted by law.
