We are currently seeking a Senior Specialist to join our Device Development Team to be based in Rahway, NJ.
This position is in our organization's Device Development group in our research division. Our organization's Device Development group is responsible for the development of devices, combination products, processes, testing and assembly equipment from conception through product launch. Products include injectors, inhalers, implants, infusion pumps, vaginal rings and connected devices/apps.
You will contribute in a high impact, complex, cross-functional and cross-divisional teams and initiatives, and will provide leadership to achieve project goals. Effective collaboration with teams is essential to meet Merck's goals/objectives. You will also play a key role in supporting launched products.
Education Minimum Requirement:
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 9 years of experience OR a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related field with a minimum 7 years of experience
Required Experience and Skills:
- Experience in Medical device and/or combination product development.
- Ability to demonstrate hands-on troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude.
- CAD design, including knowledge of SOLID WORKS
- Knowledge and experience in specification and test method development
- Working knowledge of PLCs, servo drives and automation control systems.
- Ability to fabricate custom fixtures for medical device assembly and testing.
- Experience with design, specification development, implementation and support for new automation platforms for testing and pilot manufacturing including assembly, filling and packaging.
- Knowledge of injection molding and assembly of plastic medical device products.
- Quality and finished product testing of delivery devices
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred experience and skills:
- Knowledge of automated assembly systems for pharmaceutical and medical industries
