  • Position Description:
  • GENERAL SUMMARY:
  • The Senior Specialist, Global Oncology Marketing Strategy and Operations, is responsible for Competitive Tracking, Oncology Budget reporting, and Epidemiology alignment to support long range planning.
  • This position directly supports the Merck Global Oncology Marketing Franchise, and offers numerous collaborative opportunities.
  • GENERAL PROFILE:
  • Contributes to the performance and results of the Global Oncology Franchise.
  • Advances knowledge of Epi inputs used across the Global Oncology Franchise.
  • Provides guidance for various stakeholders on managing Merck internal systems and processes.


POSITION ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Roles and Responsibilities may evolve, and include, but are not limited to:

Competitive Tracking:

  • Maintaining and updating the Pan Tumor Competitive Heat Map (tracking of studies in the IO landscape by line of therapy, metastatic disease, early stage).
  • Point of contact for ad-hoc questions/analyses on IO competitive landscape.
  • Support competitive analyses, timelines from Investor Relations, providing support for investor relations question on Merck's position versus the competitive landscape.


Budget Management:

  • Collaborates with budget owners to centrally manage SAP for GHQ Oncology budget (entering NWAs, setting phasing).
  • Support Pan Tumor Director with monthly reports, quarterly close reporting, tracking budgets.
  • Training new team members on the budget and expense process, expense cycle, SAP.
  • Profit Plan support; developing or updating templates for Marketing teams to leverage during Profit Plan. Partner with tumor teams to accurately set the yearly expense plan.


Epidemiology:

  • Collaborate with Epidemiology stakeholders, e.g. Pan Tumor Director, CORE, Global Marketing, and Regional Marketing to manage the progress of aligning on a single version of Epidemiology for the company (I.e. Marketing, Investor relations, CORE, Market Access, New Products).
  • Collect business rules for Epi Alignment from Global Marketing teams to initiate Epi Alignment meetings
  • Drive continuous improvement in understanding Epi assumptions, and reach consensus on assumptions.
  • Communicate and align key internal stakeholders on Epi assumptions
  • Import Epi learnings into internal repository of aligned Epi data, and support continuous improvement of epi assumption.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Strategic understanding of sales and marketing with the ability to identify market drivers, trends, issues, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience working with specialty pharmaceutical market data (assumptions behind data, limitations of data, etc.) such as epidemiology data, IQVIA/IMS data, claims data, EMR/HER data, etc.
  • Proficiency in generating analyses, reports, documents using MS Excel and Power point.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team-based environment and gain alignment across an organization.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment with a sense of urgency.

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher


Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 4 years experience in pharmaceuticals with commercial focus for marketing operations.
  • Strategic understanding of sales and marketing with the ability to identify market drivers, trends, issues, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience working with specialty pharmaceutical market data (assumptions behind data, limitations of data, etc.) such as epidemiology data, IQVIA/IMS data, claims data, EMR/HER data, etc.
  • Proficiency in generating analyses, reports, documents using MS Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team-based environment and gain alignment across an organization.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment with a sense of urgency.


Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in Oncology
  • Experience in competitive analyses, competitive tracking, and assessing clinical trials (i.e. familiarity with Clinicaltrials.gov)
  • Experience managing complex budgets in SAP
  • Working knowledge of regulatory planning to problem-solve data inputs
