Analytical Chemist

Roles and Responsibilities

This role goes beyond routine sample analysis. It focuses on non-routine analytical challenges, method optimization, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of analytical capability to support production reliability, quality, and cost performance.

  • Responsible for conducting calibrations and validations to remain in compliance.
  • This role requires deep expertise in analytical techniques and data quality management systems.
  • Ensures high quality analytical data, robust laboratory methods, and effective troubleshooting to enable operational decision making, product quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide advanced analytical chemistry support to Deer Park production units.
  • Serve as the technical authority for assigned analytical methods, instruments, and testing strategies
  • Interpret complex analytical data and provide clear guidance to Operations and Technical teams.
  • Lead troubleshooting of non-routine analytical, quality, or process issues. Develop, validate, and improve analytical methods to meet evolving site needs.
  • Support investigation and resolution of off spec product, process upsets, or quality deviations.
  • Ensure laboratory practices comply with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Leads installation, validation, and calibration of new and existing laboratory equipment.
  • Responsible for instrument troubleshooting, with repair plans dependent on Production criticality.
  • Lead investigations into failed SQC's and identifying an assignable cause for OOC instruments.
  • Maintains frequent communication with key stakeholders to keep them informed of critical information regarding instrument repairs and calibrations and other changes.
  • Drive ISO-9001 compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

BS or MS in Chemistry

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of Laboratory experience is strongly preferred
  • Significant experience in analytical chemistry within a manufacturing, refining, or chemical plant environment.
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining analytical instrumentation, including GC, HPLC, IC, titrators, UV, and related systems.
  • Strong proficiency in analytical techniques such as GC, GC-MS, HPLC, IC, sulfur speciation, XRF, and titration methods.
  • Track record of independently diagnosing and resolving complex analytical and quality problems.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and administration.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety, quality systems, and regulatory requirements

Must have a valid driver's license and current state required minimum vehicle insurance coverage to drive onto Client and Company property.

Pay Range:

The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $35.00 per hour; however, the pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This pay information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location.
