GEI Consultants, Inc. has an immediate opening in our San Diego office for an entry to mid-level analytical chemist. This position would support GEI's growing national team of aquatic scientists and ecological and human health risk specialists, who support a wide range of environmental assessment, regulatory compliance, remediation, and R&D programs across the U.S.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Bench-level analytical chemistry support for analysis of trace metals, mercury, PFAS, and other compounds in sediment, tissue, stormwater, groundwater, seawater. Experience with the following instrumentation and methods is required:
    • Analysis of trace metals using a Thermo Element XR high resolution inductively coupled mass spectrometer (HR-ICP-MS)

  • Demonstrated excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with MS Excel spreadsheets and MS Access databases.
  • Ability to apply full-feature statistical software (e.g., R, GraphPad PRISM) preferred.
  • Ability and willingness for field work if needed.
  • Willingness to travel and spending some time at other GEI offices or DoD locations to work with teams on project issues as needed.
