Analytical Chemist (Clinical Laboratory)

We are seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist to join a growing clinical laboratory specializing in advanced chromatography testing. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting LC-MS/MS instrumentation in a professional laboratory environment.
Location: St. Charles, IL (Onsite)
Pay: $65,000-$82,000 annually
Direct Hire | Full-Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (Occasional overtime and weekend hours may be required based on production demands.)
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare biological specimens for analysis using LC-MS/MS, HPLC, and GC instrumentation.
- Prepare calibrators, quality control samples, and standards according to established SOPs.
- Monitor and review quality control data, identify trends, and troubleshoot analytical issues.
- Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot chromatography instrumentation to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and assist with instrument troubleshooting as needed.
- Conduct high-complexity analytical testing while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
- Follow CLIA regulations and laboratory quality standards to ensure reliable and compliant testing.
- Accurately document laboratory activities, test results, and maintenance records.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to support workflow, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
- Bachelor's degree considered with additional professional LC-MS/MS experience.
- Required: Hands-on professional experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting LC-MS/MS instrumentation.
- Experience with HPLC and Gas Chromatography (GC) is highly preferred.
- Clinical laboratory experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry and chromatography principles.
- Experience preparing biological specimens, calibrators, quality control samples, and standards.
- Proficient in standard laboratory techniques, including pipetting, analytical balances, pH meters, and solution preparation.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and laboratory software.
