Biological Technician

Job Title: Biological Research & Greenhouse Technician
Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Biological Technician to support our research operations through the specialized care of biological cultures and greenhouse environments. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the health and lifecycle of research organisms and the plant life required for their development. This is a hands-on position that requires a high level of consistency, precise data collection, and the ability to maintain a controlled, sterile research environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Biological Culture Maintenance: Manage the daily rearing process for research organisms. This includes preparing media/materials, the delicate transfer and collection of specimens, and the meticulous cleaning of reusable laboratory materials.
• Greenhouse Operations: Oversee plant health through seeding, potting, and consistent watering schedules. Monitor plants for pests or inconsistencies and safely discard unused plant material according to protocol.
• Data Integrity: Accurately fill out data forms and tracking logs to ensure the integrity of the research lifecycle and specimen history.
• Facility Support: Maintain a clean and organized workspace. Safely handle and move supplies, bags, or boxes weighing up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications & Requirements
• Education: Associate degree in Biology, Agriculture, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with a High School Diploma and significant relevant experience will be considered.
• Experience: * Proven experience working with insects (rearing/handling) or caring for plants in a professional greenhouse or agricultural setting.
• Experience following strict research protocols and maintaining sterile environments.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to safely lift and move up to 40 lbs on a regular basis.
• Commitment: Ability to work a standard day shift with the flexibility to participate in a rotating weekend and holiday schedule to ensure continuous care for living specimens.
