Job Description:
The Biologics Purification Development team within Product Development Science & Technology is seeking an Associate Scientist to support protein purification and protein chemistry activities for biopharmaceutical process development. The role will focus on chromatography, filtration, and bioanalytical methods to enable process development and transfer to manufacturing.
Responsibilities:

  • Execute high-throughput, scale-down robotic purification for early- and late-stage process development, viral clearance, process characterization, and process improvement studies.
  • Develop robust downstream purification steps (chromatography, filtration, separations) for recovering target proteins from bioreactor harvests.
  • Perform laboratory-scale process characterization to support technology transfer to manufacturing.
  • Conduct bioanalytical assays (e.g., HPLC, ELISA, SDS-PAGE) to support process development.
  • Document experimental work in electronic lab notebooks and analyze/report results.
  • Collaborate effectively across teams and provide technical support for pilot and/or GMP manufacturing of clinical materials, as needed.

Requirements:

  • BS in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or Chemistry with 3-5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong biological scientific foundation.
  • Hands-on experience with chromatography and filtration techniques for biologics purification.
  • Familiarity with bioanalytical assays and methods (HPLC, ELISA, SDS-PAGE).
  • Strong written, oral, and collaborative communication skill.
