Biostatistician - Seibold Lab

The Seibold Laboratory at National Jewish Health is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated Biostatistician. The Seibold Lab is a multidisciplinary research group focused on defining the molecular, cellular, genetic, and environmental mechanisms underlying asthma and other complex airway and allergic diseases. The laboratory integrates airway biology, immunology, genomics, computational biology, and translational human studies, with close collaboration among experimental scientists, clinicians, computational biologists, biostatisticians, and statistical geneticists.

In this position, the successful candidate will work within the PRIMERO Birth Cohort Study ([click to reveal website link]https://primerobirthcohort.com), an NIH-funded longitudinal study designed to investigate the early-life origins of childhood asthma. PRIMERO follows children from birth through childhood and combines serial airway sampling, respiratory illness surveillance, lung-function testing, molecular profiling, viral metagenomics, and detailed clinical phenotyping. The project seeks to define longitudinal airway expression and cellular patterns associated with asthma development and to identify inflammatory endotypes and biological mechanisms that emerge during early life in children who will develop asthma.

The Biostatistician will work closely with investigators and computational scientists to design and perform analyses integrating longitudinal clinical, respiratory, cellular, and molecular data generated through PRIMERO. Analyses will include single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, genetic and eQTL analyses, and integration of these molecular data with longitudinal clinical and respiratory phenotypes. The Biostatistician will be responsible for developing statistical analysis strategies, applying appropriate statistical and computational methods to high-dimensional and longitudinal datasets, interpreting and visualizing results, and identifying biological patterns and hypotheses arising from these analyses. The position will also contribute directly to manuscripts, presentations, and grant-related analyses.

This is a fully analytical position with no laboratory responsibilities and is well suited for a biostatistician interested in longitudinal human studies, high-dimensional biomedical data, multi-omic integration, and the pathobiology of childhood asthma.

Position Summary

Designs, manages and analyzes research data provided by National Jewish Health faculty and researchers, federally funded grants and entities outside National Jewish Health.

Essential Duties

• Works with researchers to design, manage, analyze and provide reporting plansn for research projects.
• Prepares datasets for analysis.
• Creates statistical programs for data manipulation and analysis with software packages such as R and SAS.
• Provides expertise in statistics and computing in collaboration with investigators.
• Writes analytical sections of manuscripts and grants, and co-authors research articles.
• Implements data management and data quality control plans.
• Advises researchers about analytical software and to a limited degree, hardware.
• Analyzes data both independently and in conjunction with faculty.
• Assists investigators in running analysis and presentation programs.
• Participates in recommending software and hardware changes.
• Keeps abreast of new discoveries in science, i.e. genetics, genomics, and methods for analysis of these data.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Master's degree in biostatistics or related field required.
• Work Experience: A minimum of two (2) years recent and related experience with statistical analysis of scientific data.

Salary Range: $77,572.56 - $102,583.71
