Summary:
The incumbent in this position monitors heart rhythm patterns of patients to detect abnormal pattern variances, using telemetry equipment: Review's patient information to determine normal heart rhythm patterns, current pattern, and prior variances. This position also places cardiac monitors, screens patient rhythms on cardiac monitors for EP's, performs EKGs, runs multiple types of Cardiac Stress Test and pulls telemetry scans for inpatient.
Responsibilities:
* The primary role of the exercise physiologist is to conduct various types of exercise stress tests, cardiac rehab and maintain the exercise stress lab. Additional duties include placing cardiac event or holter monitors and completing the proper billing and documentation for both. The EP also is responsible for scanning holter rhythm data to detect abnormal pattern variances, communicate/inform EP Cardiologist of rhythm concerns to initiate examination of the patient; measure cardiac intervals and report/record them on graphic trend readouts and posts information on patient records. The EP regularly interprets inpatient rhythm data from hospital telemetry equipment. The EP is also solely responsible for inpatient and Cardiology clinic electrocardiograms (EKGs) during clinic business hours. The EP regularly communicates with various departments for coordination of services and performs other duties and special projects as required. They often operate/troubleshoot equipment used for basic job functions; assist with care, maintenance and supplies as needed.
WORK EXPERIENCE
* EKG/telemetry experience Req
* At least 2 years Successful completion of Children's cardiac arrhythmia course, passing grade on EKG test and demonstrated competency in rhythm analysis within 30 days of hire Req
EDUCATION
* High school diploma or equivalent Req
* Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Req
* Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Pref
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
* Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Req
* PALS certification with 6 months from hire 180 Days Req
