Position Summary:Designs equipment and develops processes for manufacturing chemicals and related products by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute projects on the design, fabrication, and operation of targeted experimental campaigns to provide information required to design integrated process units for the conversion of natural gas into solid carbon and hydrogen.
  • Work with the R&D and Engineering teams on design and modeling of process units to ensure successful scale up of the technology
  • Project manage external firms to deliver on assigned tasks
  • Assist in the development and design of pilot systems including definition of operating parameters to enable scale-up and commercialization of C-Zero's technology
  • Perform heat transfer, chemical process modeling, and techno-economic analysis using industry software tools
  • Conducts research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes.
  • Manage / mentor junior engineers / technicians
  • Determine most effective arrangement of unit operations exercising judgment to compromise between process requirements, economic evaluation, operator effectiveness, and physical and health hazards.
  • Direct activities of workers who operate and control lab or pilot facilities in order to run experimental campaigns in the progression of the technology


Qualifications / Education / Experience:

  • Chemical Engineer (II) - BS/MS with 2-4 years industrial experience or PhD with 1-3 years industrial experience
  • Senior Chemical Engineer (I) - BS/MS with 5+ years industrial experience or PhD with 3+ years industrial experience in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with performing reactor and chemical process modeling. Preference for experience in fluidized bed systems.
  • Experience in refining, petrochemical, specialty chemical, pulp and paper, or related industries as a member of the Technical staff or Operations.
  • Hands-on experience in all the stages of technology development life cycle from idea to lab validation to pilot. Some experience or understanding of in-situ and ex-situ lab analytics (i.e. GC, MS, SEM) preferred.

Total Compensation:

We are open to a range of experience levels from intermediate to senior level, and thus is reflected in the salary range below. Actual salary will be commensurate with experience and capabilities in the role:

Chemical Engineer (II) $95,000 - $130,000

Sr. Chemical Engineer (I) $112,000 - $155,000
