Chemical Engineering Intern

POSITION SUMMARY

The Chemical Engineering Intern will be assigned a variety of projects to support Manufacturing, as well as provide developmental opportunities for the Engineering Intern during the Summer 2024, including Research & Development and Environmental Health & Safety. The Chemical Engineering Intern will interface with internal personnel in the plant and office, and some external suppliers, contractors, etc. as needed.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in the production, planning, and scheduling of final product.
  • Assess and resolve operational issues through hands on experience.
  • Use data analysis tools and presentation tools to efficiently communicate experimental design, results, and conclusions to internal cross-functional technical teams.
  • Work with Operations to improve efficiency, process development, write work instructions and help define and translate customer requirements to the shop floor.
  • Process development, improvement, and documentation.
  • Analyze current operating performance and standard operating procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Additional activities may be assigned based on current requirements and Intern development.



EDEUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Candidates must be a full-time student actively enrolled in an accredited two-year or four-year college/university program pursuing a Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the US.
  • Plastics processing equipment experience and/or familiarity with various analytical equipment (Cast film extrusion, refractometer, FTIR, SEM, microscopy, etc.)



QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point).
  • Strong verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills required.
  • Knowledge of PIDs.
  • Basic AutoCAD software knowledge may be required for some positions.
  • Strong Organizational, Technical, and Communication Skills.
  • Ability to interface with various levels of staff from office personnel, management to production employees.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to successfully prioritize and work multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to learn new processes and systems.
