What You Will Do
This position is a collaborative position between Plutonium Supply and Disposition: Materials Recovery & Recycle (PSD-4) and Biochemistry and Biotechnology Group (B-TEK). PSD-4 and B-TEK are seeking to hire a recent graduate at the Post-Masters Level. This student will primarily be conducting R&D on electrochemically driven disposal pathways of nitrated organic materials contaminated with transuranic waste.
The other R&D tasks may include but are not limited to design and 3D printing resin components, electroplating of materials, and air-free chemistry including glovebox work. The Post-masters student will also be exposed to working within a nuclear facility.

- Wet Chemistry Laboratory Experience
- Ability to follow Laboratory safety procedures
- Ability to work and problem-solve independently
- An interest in working within a nuclear facility
Education/Experience:
Position requires a Master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution within the last 3 years and have not yet been accepted into another master's program or a PhD program. Must have maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with electrochemical cells
- Experience with SLA printing and post-processing
- Experience with cementation and cementation formulation
- Experience working with radioactive materials
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law.
