Chemist

CWI Works is recruiting a chemist to work in the Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program (55 years of age or older) at the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Facility in Ann Arbor, MI.

Role and Responsibilities: This position functions as an Analytical Chemist in the Fuels and Chemistry Center of the Testing and Advanced Technology Division of the EPA's National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory (NVFEL). The Chemist works independently to maintain analytical instrumentation, ensure precision and accuracy of analytical methods, interpret statistical quality control charts, log-in new samples following chain-of-custody procedures, analyze samples for enforcement and compliance assurance, provide reports to Compliance and Quality Assurance officers, and log results into the ChemLab Database.

Qualifications and Education Requirements: Successful candidates must meet the age criteria of being 55 years of age or older; a United States citizen; able to pass a Federal Background check; possess a bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field with 10 years of experience in analytical chemistry; proficient in Microsoft Office products; able to use database system; written and verbal communications skills.

Hours & Compensation: Full-Time position working 40 hours per week @ $39,956.80 a year ($19.21 per hour), plus benefits including paid health insurance and generous vacation/sick/holiday leave.
