Chemist I
We are seeking an analytical brain with a passion for the health and wellness industry. We are in search for someone who is passionate about chemistry and is looking to develop their skills. The Chemist I will play an integral role in our team by testing wide range of products and reporting results, providing status updates to the supervisor and/or laboratory manager.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately perform analytical testing of samples to support incoming raw materials, in-process production, finished product and stability samples with some supervision.
- Draft and document routine analytical testing to support raw material and/or product release including but not limited to stability samples and semi-finished products.
- Assists with a variety of special laboratory projects including but not limited to: testing method transfer, method improvement and material homogenization of the products.
- Perform technical (peer) review of data generated by other analysts (notebook write-ups, worksheets, etc.) as required.
- Assist QC Lab department with laboratory investigation documentation for OOS testing results.
- Create, uphold and revise standard operating procedures
- Assure that all work areas are maintained in a neat and orderly fashion. Perform necessary cleaning, maintenance, and calibration verification of instrumentation, as required.
- Utilize analytical instrumentation such as FTIR, UV, HPLC, UPLC, GC, GCMS, ICP, TLC and wet chemistry techniques, and have good scientific understanding of these techniques.
- Perform all activities in compliance with the SOPs and cGLP/cGMP requirements.
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned by laboratory management or designee
Qualifications:
*Note: Preference for candidates with experience in analytical testing, particularly in the following areas:
- Knowledge of pesticide and residual solvent testing
- Hands-on experience with Gas Chromatography (GC) and Liquid Chromatography (LC) instruments
- Bachelor's Degree in Science
- Prior experience in a professional laboratory environment; 0-2 years
- Familiar with one or more of the following: Liquid Chromatography (HPLC or HPTLC), ICP-OES, ICP-MS or Nitrogen combustion analyzer
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Computer knowledge with Microsoft Office is required.
- Prior experience with electronic laboratory management system is preferred.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Must be able to stand for 8 hours
- Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment
