Job Description:

Position Overview:

In the Clinical Research Nurse position, you will assist in coordinating and participate in all phases of clinical research studies ensuring that studies are carried out according to protocol, standard operating procedures, and applicable guidelines and regulations. As a Clinical Research Nurse you will provide direct patient care to patients involved in studies.

Desired/Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Licensed RN in the State of Michigan
  • Successful completion of competency based orientation program and chemotherapy certificate
  • CPR certification or acquisition within 90 days of employment



Specific skills & abilities:

  • Minimum 1 year medical/surgical (preferably oncology)



Primary Duties & Responsibilities

1. Coordinate and participate in clinical research studies conducted by a supervising investigator to ensure that data collected on study volunteers adhere to study protocol; may assist in screening volunteers for inclusion in study based on pre-determined criteria.

2. Provide expert professional nursing care to critically ill patients and make critical evaluations to develop and implement new nursing procedures and protocols in conjunction with accepted standards of care. The CRN must possess professional knowledge of a wide range of nursing concepts, principles, and practices to perform highly specialized nursing assignments as well as knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and pharmacology.

3. Administer drugs according to research protocol. Administer drugs according to research protocol.

4. Collaborate closely with study investigator and Clinical Research Manager informing on relevant adverse events and serious adverse events according to procedures outlined in the protocol.

5. Review CRFs; evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare protocol summary forms, statistical reports and analyses documenting progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

6. Participate in project/planning meetings with clients and other members of the research team, including physicians, as needed. Assist principal investigator(s) and/or other members of the research team in the development of plans and protocols for clinical research studies; contribute to the analysis and interpretation of results as appropriate.

7. Assist in coordinating site visits for prospective research and pharmaceutical companies.
