Clinician-Investigator - Diabetes, Obesity, and Clinical Trials

The Holman Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at NYU Langone Health invites applications for a Clinician-Investigator with demonstrated expertise in clinical trials focused on diabetes and obesity. We are seeking an academically oriented physician with a track record of leading investigator-initiated and/or industry-sponsored clinical trials, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary research teams in a complex academic medical center.

This full-time faculty position is based in Manhattan and offers the opportunity to lead and expand NYU's rapidly growing portfolio of clinical trials in diabetes, obesity, and related metabolic diseases. The successful candidate will collaborate across departments and campuses, including with experts in cardiology, nephrology, hepatology, surgery, and population health, to advance the design and implementation of innovative trials and translational research programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, lead, and implement clinical trials focused on Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, obesity, and metabolic disease.
  • Serve as Principal Investigator on at least one active investigator-initiated or industry-sponsored study annually.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including research coordinators, program managers, referring clinicians, research nurses, and data analysts.
  • Develop partnerships with institutional leadership, referring providers, and external sponsors to drive trial recruitment and visibility.
  • Mentor fellows and junior faculty in clinical trial methodology, study design, and regulatory compliance.
  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at national and international conferences.

Salary Range: $220,000-$250,000

The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include incentive compensation or benefits. Actual salary may not fall within the listed salary range; consideration will be made for experience, training, hospital/community need, and other factors.

Qualifications

  • MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent with board certification in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or managing investigator-initiated or industry-sponsored clinical trials in diabetes and/or obesity.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams within an academic health system.
  • Eligibility for appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
