The State of New Hampshire, Fish and Game Department has a full-time vacancy for Biologist II.
Summary:
To plan, coordinate, direct, and review the Inland Fisheries Division's cold-water fisheries research and management programs
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and 1.5 years of experience OR equivalent combination of 5.5 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in biology, wildlife or fisheries management, wildlife or fisheries research, or related field.
License/Certification: Valid Driver's License
Other Requirements:
1. Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards established by the agency
2. Must be willing to travel throughout the state, and work on occasional weekends and evenings.
3. This position involves regular fieldwork, including moderate physical labor. Must be able to work outdoors for long hours in varied weather conditions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Strong interpersonal communication skills for interacting with constituents, landowners, state and local officials, academic circles and other stakeholders. Candidate must be able to negotiate varied and rugged terrain, have experience with outdoor safety skills, and be competent with use of compass, maps and surveys.AFS Certified Associate Fisheries Professional desired.

Responsibilities:
DETAILED TASKS (AGENCY/POSITION-SPECIFIC):
Plans and developments work to be carried out on coldwater fisheries research and management programs in order to meet program objectives statewide.
Directly supervises full-time and temporary staff, other professionals and volunteers conducting work related to the coldwater fisheries research and management program and other efforts in Region 1.
Reviews research data as presented by subordinates for accuracy and applicability to the coldwater fisheries research and management programs.
Collects, analyzes and evaluates statewide scientific data collected on the coldwater fisheries research and management program, as well as other Region 1 efforts and makes recommendations on the scientific merit of research data to meet Departmental objectives.
Prepares equipment and supply orders and maintains an inventory of all equipment and supplies necessary to carry out the coldwater fisheries research and management program.
Communicates within the Department, to other agencies, as well as to the public, and represents the Fish and Game Department at public meetings and professional conferences with regards to the coldwater fisheries research and management program.
