We currently have a Compliance Emergency Response Technician position available at our facility in Virginia. Our Company at the Elkton Campus is located in the Shenandoah Valley along the Shenandoah River and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The facility is a short distance from major state universities: University of Virginia and James Madison University.
Our Company offers pharmaceutical manufacturing opportunities in the following areas: Organic Synthesis, Fermentation, Bulk Sterile Product Manufacturing, Vaccine Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical Formulation and Sterile Product Finishing. Technicians operate 7-days per week utilizing different shifts. Technicians will provide services in numerous areas within site services and must be forward thinking individuals who are able to flow to the work. Functioning as a member of the Site Services Team and operating in an empowered team environment.
You are responsible for safeguarding all company personnel, property and assets, preventing theft or loss of company property and enforcing company, local, state and federal rules and regulations. You will have responsibility for access control of all employees, visitors, contract and service personnel and truck drivers to the site. Technicians will report to the Emergency Services Manager.

Key Functions

- Work within the areas of site services including loss prevention, security, emergency response, project support, facilities maintenance and other service areas
- Monitor numerous electronic monitoring systems and will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance and testing of all the fire protections and life safety systems | Work as a member of an empowered work Team
- Work Individually and as Team members to ensure the proper operations of all protection and life safety systems teaming with other functional areas within the site and the appropriate vendors | Work with the team to coordinate all required inspections, testing and maintenance of site services systems | Coordinate, oversee and help in conducting scheduled inspections and testing of the plant's site services, fixed fire protection and portable systems
- Ensure systems are inspected and tested according to NFPA, FM and our Company specifications | Coordinate with each functional area, in the scheduling of all required inspections, testing and maintenance of the sites protection and life safety systems
- Work with approved vendors in the maintenance of these systems | Trouble shoot the site services systems, resolving issues affecting equipment performance, minimize equipment downtime, ensure product quality, making proper notifications for resolution and conducting required inspections and testing
- Work within SAP entering notifications on all security, and fixed and portable fire protection systems; tracking the progress of each and teaming with maintenance to ensure all are completed Be a permanent member of the site's emergency response organization ensuring compliance with all site, local, state and federal guidelines | Respond to all emergency or potential emergency situations and take the lead in remediation and cleanup efforts
- Monitor all local weather conditions reporting to the plant any watches, warnings or impending hazardous weather
- Proficient in the use of the sites badging system | Trouble shoot the system and able to acknowledge and properly respond to all potential or actual alarm conditions | Responsible for badging all our Company employees and contractors reporting through our Company
- Anticipate shifting priorities to meet customer needs; identifying the need for new site services equipment and/or modifications to existing equipment to optimize throughput | Identify and communicate improvement opportunities and results
- Effectively communicate with all persons utilizing both verbal and written communications | Continue their personal development through the successful completion of identified training opportunities as identified within their Coaching Action Plan and will continually seek additional ways to develop themselves, team members and their department identifying these methods to the Site Services Leader and developing action plans to accomplish | Be proficient in the use of computers and the Windows platform
- Serve as the sites Incident Commander in the absence of the Emergency Services Manager maintaining compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (q) (6) (v) and NFPA 1561
- Recognize and investigates opportunities for financial savings making recommendations to the Emergency Services Manager regarding departmental profit plan, capital planning, and budget and standards development.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED

Required
- Good working knowledge and be able to work in of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, People Soft, People Direct, SAP and operating within the e-room
- Principled verbal and written communications
- Certified as an Emergency Medical Technician
- Demonstrate the ability to coach and develop work teams and to provide different types of training
- Operate effectively and efficiently in high stress situations, must be able to work both indoors and outdoors and must be able to work in all different types of weather conditions
- Strong interpersonal skills in communicating verbally
- Working knowledge of computers, and be able to work with Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, above average technical aptitude with the ability to learn new skills and tasks, and problem solving skills; strong team skills and interpersonal skills including motivating/empowering others, and resolving conflict
- Flexible and be able to manage multiple priorities
- Goal-oriented and able to manage risks and crisis maintaining control of self, their surroundings and the environment
- Work shift work, weekends and Holiday's
Preferred
- Additional education from a CHEA Recognized Institution
- Firefighter I, II or III | Firefighter NPQ
- Hazmat Technician
- Confined Space Rescue
- High Angle Rescue
- Certified in NFPA 25: Inspection, Maintenance and Testing of Water based Fire Protection Systems
