Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Geotechnical-Civil-Environmental Engineer in our St. Louis, Missouri or Kansas City, Missouri/Kansas offices. The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations on projects involving site characterization; landfill design and construction; earth retaining structures; deep and soft/weak foundations; dams and water containment structures; forensic investigations and litigation support; geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; numerical analysis of stability and deformation; and geohazard / earthquake characterization / mitigation, while learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducting geotechnical field investigations;Monitoring heavy civil construction projects;
  • Monitoring heavy civil construction projects;
  • Fieldwork such as soil, surface water and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, and remediation treatment system operation and maintenance;
  • Performing and reviewing engineering calculations;
  • Earthquake engineering;
  • Landfill design and permitting;
  • Dam and levee evaluations;
  • Developing construction documents;
  • Writing and reviewing engineering reports;
  • Chemical data and contaminant fate & transport evaluation;
  • Well installation, aquifer testing, and groundwater monitoring;
  • Groundwater and soil remedy evaluation, cost estimation, design calculations, and implementation;
  • Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting;
  • Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.



Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, geological, and/or environmental engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree the same. (preferred)



Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Prior internship or work experience in engineering consulting. (preferred)
  • Prior research experience in contaminated media or remediation technology. (preferred)
  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • Experience with ArcView, Microsoft Access, Modflow, and/or EVS. (preferred)
  • Experience with geotechnical and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Slope/W, and PLAXIS. (preferred)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
