Job Overview
As an Elastomer Chemist at Weatherford, you'll research, develop, and test rubber-like materials (elastomers) and thermoplastics for oil and gas industry applications. You'll support products throughout their entire lifecycle from design to failure analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and formulate elastomeric and thermoplastic materials
- Recommend appropriate materials for specific applications
- Work with procurement teams to identify new suppliers
- Assist quality teams with supplier audits and resolving non-conformances
- Help solve manufacturing problems related to elastomer production
- Conduct failure analyses and prepare technical reports
- Test materials to evaluate their properties using industry standards
- Create specifications for processes, products, and testing
- Coordinate multiple projects and direct lab technicians and junior chemists
- Comply with Weatherford's quality and safety policies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or materials engineering
- 6-10 years of elastomers experience
- 5 years of experience with oilfield elastomers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with all levels of personnel
- Experience with elastomer testing and analytical techniques
- Skill in managing multiple concurrent projects
- Knowledge of oilfield elastomers
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or Master's Degree in Polymer Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- 10+ years of experience with oilfield polymers
- Experience in the Oil and Gas Industry
- Experience in elastomer compounding
- Knowledge of composites
- Understanding of quality systems
Travel Requirements
This position requires up to 25% travel, both domestic and potentially international.
