Position Overview

The Environmental Engineer will support environmental site investigations, groundwater and soil sampling projects, remediation activities, regulatory reporting, remedial system designs, and environmental compliance projects for industrial, commercial, municipal, and federal clients. This position offers the opportunity to continue building technical expertise while working alongside experienced environmental professionals on a wide range of environmental projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental investigation and remediation projects, including groundwater, soil, and vapor-related assessments.
  • Conduct and oversee field activities such as groundwater sampling, soil sampling, drilling oversight, remediation system monitoring, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Assist with preparation of technical reports, environmental assessments, regulatory submittals, and remediation documentation.
  • Interpret environmental data and assist with evaluating site conditions and remediation alternatives.
  • Coordinate with project managers, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients regarding project activities and schedules.
  • Assist with environmental permitting and regulatory compliance projects related to state and federal environmental programs.
  • Support remediation system design, installation, operations, inspections, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Maintain accurate field documentation, sampling records, and project files.
  • Assist with proposal preparation, project scopes, and cost estimates.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable environmental regulations and company standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or related field
  • 2 - 5 years of relevant AEC or consulting experience
  • Strong knowledge of environmental permitting and regulatory frameworks
  • Demonstrated technical writing and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field required.
  • 3-7 years of experience in environmental consulting, site investigation, remediation, groundwater monitoring, environmental compliance, or related environmental engineering work preferred.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred; candidates actively pursuing their Professional Engineer (PE) license are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Interest in long-term professional growth, technical development, and future leadership opportunities within the Wichita environmental group.
  • Experience supporting environmental investigations, remediation projects, groundwater sampling or regulatory compliance programs preferred.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations including KDHE, EPA, RCRA, CERCLA, or related environmental programs preferred.
  • Experience with technical report writing, environmental data interpretation, and field documentation.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Willingness to perform a combination of office and field-based work, including occasional overnight travel depending on project needs.

Travel Requirements

This position requires travel (20% ) as part of its primary responsibilities.
