Environmental Engineer ZFS
Job Summary:
Performs engineering work to minimize environmental risks and ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements. The work requires a knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of engineering concerned with facilities and systems for controlling pollution and protecting quality of resources and the environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direction on environmental regulatory policies, programs, or activities by establishing standards, promoting improvements, and evaluating compliance.
- Prepare and track permit applications such as air, NPDES, wastewater, or hazard waste permits.
- Develop environmental written program documents such as SPCC, SWPPP, and FRP.
- Interface with regulatory agencies and divisional personnel to direct environmental efforts and interact with outside vendors as necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Serve as technical resource person for plant and facility staff for environmental issues.
- Collect and synthesize data derived from monitoring activities.
- Monitor compliance with environmental standards and best practices. Supports audit and self-assessment processes.
- Effectively communicate issues associated with environmental maintenance and compliance to management, facility personnel and other government agencies.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety requirements.
- Provides a "Customer Service" attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards.
- Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe workstation/environment at all times.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor's in Environmental Science; Engineering; Science or related field.
- Experience: Less than 3 years
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of environmental sciences, especially those areas of biology, chemistry, and engineering which relate to pollution control principles.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and environmental reporting includes, but not limited to, hazardous waste, air, NPDES, and wastewater.
- Technical writing skills
- Strong root cause investigation techniques
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks to completion.
- Problem-solving, research and resolution, data analysis skills.
- Excellent follow-up skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills in individual and group situations
- Interacts and works efficiently with co-workers and outside vendors/agencies in a professional manner.
- Follow all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.
- Able to comply with the company's safety, environmental, quality, and HR policies at all times.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Work is primarily performed in an office setting.
- Frequent travel to different site locations (25%) is required.
- Typical physical demands include a high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a PC.
- Occasional work at heights up to 250 feet, climb stairs/ladders and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
- Occasional lifting or carrying 5 to 30 pounds.
