Epidemiologist III

Eagle Health Analytics (EHA), LLC is seeking an Epidemiologist III to support CDC's Division of Bacterial Diseases with Health Scientist/Epidemiology Support Services: Legionella. Duties may include:
• Support technical assistance to the nation's health departments to detect, prevent, and respond to Legionnaires' disease, legionellosis outbreaks, and related atypical bacterial surveillance. DBD contributes to CDC's Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases Cooperative Agreement (ELC), which includes 36 recipients of state, large local, and U.S. territory and affiliate health departments. This work includes enhancing case surveillance and reporting for Legionnaires' disease, improving environmental assessment and outbreak response, and increasing use of water management programs compliant with industry standards.
• Build technical capacity with counterparts receiving ELC funding by contributing to responses for inquiries of suspect Legionnaires' disease and legionellosis, facilitating laboratory confirmation of isolates, following-through on data submissions, and collaborate on field investigations.
• Track Legionella case reports, including assessment of disease clusters.
• Provide input into the development, review, and revision of data collection forms or
• surveillance protocols.
• Analyze surveillance project implementation, and contribute to the measurement of surveillance, prevention, and or coordination.
• Perform statistical analyses and generate tables and figures summarizing epidemiologic analyses suitable for presentation, publication, and reporting as needed to support DBD activities.
• Participate in the design and implementation of epidemiologic studies, which may include field/site visits, database creation, data entry, and management, and other tasks critical to the success of the surveillance.
• Participate in the day-to-day work of the Legionella unit, including responding to public inquiries.
• Communicate with staff at DBD and collaborators at health departments to optimize surveillance.
• Attend weekly conference calls with sites, CDC team meetings, annual meetings, and other ad hoc meetings when necessary to provide information on current activities.
• Manage or perform routine functions in epidemiologic and surveillance databases, which may include data cleaning, data management, analysis, and contribution to preparation of scientific articles and/or reports.
• Provide epidemiologic technical assistance to state, tribal, local, and territorial health departments regarding Legionnaires' disease outbreak response and prevention and control activities.
• Assist CDC epidemiology, environmental health, and laboratory Legionella SMEs in investigating and responding to outbreaks of Legionnaires' disease associate with cruise ships.

Education and Experience: A Health Scientist/Epidemiologist III possesses a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related discipline, with 5-10 years of experience. They demonstrate advanced skills in study design, data analysis, and interpretation of epidemiological data. They often lead research projects, supervise junior staff, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of public health data.
