Exercise Physiologist

Job Summary and Qualifications

Supports department by consulting with the referring physician, medical director, program director, exercise specialist(s), registered nurse, and program participant in developing an appropriate rehabilitation and education program for the patient. Also, by developing and evaluating exercise prescriptions, evaluating patient's responses to the therapeutic lifestyle changes recommended, and demonstrating leadership for the discipline of exercise science.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

• Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or other appropriate health major with ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification or AACVPR Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional Certification; and/or Master's degree in clinical exercise science with ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification or AACVPR Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional Certification.
• Preferred Education: Master's degree in Exercise Science with ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification or AACVPR Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional Certification
• Required License: ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification or AACVPR Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional Certification for Bachelor's Degree; BLS certification
• Preferred License: ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification or AACVPR Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional Certification for Master's Degree; BLS certification
• Required Experience: 300 hours or more of cardiac and/or pulmonary rehabilitation program
• Preferred Experience: 2000 hours of cardiac and/or pulmonary rehabilitation program
