The community you'll be caring for: AdventHealth Apopka
- AdventHealth Apopka is a seven-story, 120-bed hospital offering an extensive range of services including expanded surgical services, advanced surgical suites and a catheterization lab
- The hospital also features a 30,000-square-foot emergency department with pediatric-friendly beds, imaging services, a full-service cafeteria, chapel, gift shop and on-site fire station
- The hospital opened in December 2017, replacing the 50-bed hospital that AdventHealth had operated in downtown Apopka for more than four decades
The role you'll contribute:
The Exercise Physiologist (EP) oversees all aspects of physiological (kinesiology) testing, documentation and patient consultation for the Executive Health Program, Lifestyle Clinic and Wellness Center. EP's will conduct thorough physiological assessments/tests and consultation as well as specialty fitness assessments and consultations on patients. These assessments/tests include 12-lead EKG stress tests, VO2 Max, treadmill submax testing, exercise tolerance tests, metabolic rate, pulmonary function, body composition, functional movement and more. The EP educates patients on exercise concepts, provides exercise prescriptions based on patient's current ability and goals, evaluates the patient's progress, and documents the same for patient records and reports. Designs variety and provides individualized routines to reflect patient's goals while considering any physical limitations identified during the patient's assessment. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

- The Exercise Physiologist (EP) oversees all aspects of physiological (kinesiology) testing, documentation and patient consultation for the Executive Health Program
- Conducts 12-lead ECG/VO2 Max/Submax test, exercise tolerance tests, interpreting ECG's, and conducts pulmonary function testing as well as aiding in the maintenance of equipment used for such testing. Maintains a safe environment for the patients. Accurate assessments at rest and of participant's response to exercise with appropriate response to any untoward responses. Works directly with Physician regarding participant's medication or other clinical measures that may impact testing and or results. Competently interprets Electrocardiogram (ECG) basic rhythm strips and vital sign measurements, etc. and documents accordingly.
- Performs body composition analyses using air displacement plethysmography and skinfolds in addition to maintaining the equipment used for measurement.
- Measure's carotenoid status using the Pharmex antioxidant scanner.
- Performs exercise consultations with patients and/or clients. Conducts a thorough fitness assessment and consultation as well as specialty fitness assessments and consultations on patients.
- Educates patients on exercise concepts, sets up exercise prescriptions based on patient's current ability and goals, evaluates the patient's progress, and documents the same for patient records and reports. Provides education to assist the patient with developing a more active, healthy lifestyle. Provides Functional movement screenings, personal training classes, and proper form classes for all different populations.
- Clearly receives and gives written and or verbal report to communicate patient care information. Keeps EHP physician, and MA informed of progress and problems. Appropriately and legibly documents interpretation of patient data as well as plan of action for patient to reach goals. Maintains a professional relationship with all patients. Maintains confidentiality of employees, patients, administration, and medical staff information with no infractions. Keeps EPL or manager informed and seeks assistance and direction from appropriate individuals when confronted with unfamiliar situations to ensure deliverance of safe and effective patient care.
- Maintains the stress testing lab which includes, but is not limited to, cleaning of equipment. Participates in completing and documenting daily safety checks to include code cart (equipment checks and patient education of safe use of equipment).
- Assists in the collection and storage of data relating to Executive Health Program and all assigned Quality of life programs and research.
- Assist with delivery of marketing and presentation materials as they relate to Exercise Physiology/Wellness

Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field
- BLS Certification from American Heart Association
- Comprehensive knowledge of general exercise physiology theory and practices
- Ability to recognize and intervene in potential hazards to patient safety
- Understanding of lifestyle & behavioral health issues along with effective behavior change principles
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Software Programs and EPIC software
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Experience and/or internship in a cardiac rehab or cardiopulmonary rehabilitation setting
(appropriate to unit of hire) - Master's Degree in Exercise Science or related field
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
- American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C) - OR -
- American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP)
- American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional Certification (CCRP)
