What You'll Do

As an Exercise Physiologist at Grand River Health, you'll support patients through their cardiac rehabilitation journey. You'll oversee daily patient care activities within the cardiac rehab program and provide direct, hands-on support to help patients safely recover and improve their cardiovascular health. Your role will combine compassionate care, clinical expertise, and teamwork to deliver exceptional outcomes for our patients and community.

  • Develop individualized, problem-based exercise programs and care plans for cardiac rehabilitation patients.
  • Lead and oversee cardiac rehab classes for patients recovering from cardiac events, surgery, or other heart-related conditions.
  • Conduct initial patient assessments and review medical histories, medications, and relevant information to guide care.
  • Monitor patient vitals during sessions, document progress, and communicate updates to referring physicians.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to clinical changes such as abnormal heart rhythms, blood pressure responses, or chest pain.
  • Educate patients on lifestyle changes and nutrition in partnership with the Health Education department.
  • Perform and document accurate service charges and support safe, effective workflow processes within the department.
  • Collaborate with the Cardiopulmonary Services Director to resolve workflow issues and enhance patient safety and quality of care.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies for cardiac rehab classes; ensure cleanliness, proper sterilization, and readiness for inspections.
  • Adhere to all professional, departmental, and regulatory standards, including AACVPR guidelines.
  • Participate in team huddles, meetings, and training to stay current on best practices and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support policy development, reporting, and goal tracking for the cardiac rehabilitation program.


Who We're Looking For

  • Master's degree in Exercise Physiology or similar required.
  • 4 years of experience of critical care or cardiac rehabilitation experience preferred.
  • Must have a current American Heart Association approved BLS certification and must maintain current status throughout employment.
  • American Heart Association approved ACLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment with current status required to be maintained throughout employment.


What We Offer

Our total rewards package includes

  1. Pay Range: $27.72 - $31.45 /hour (based on experience)
  2. Shift Differentials: $2-$4/hour for nights and weekends
  3. PRN Differential: 10% differential in addition to base rate salary

Compensation may vary outside this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
