Job Summary and Qualifications

The Exercise Physiologist is responsible for providing individualized, goal directed care and education to patients using the systematic process of assessment, implementation, and evaluation. The Exercise Physiologist will analyze the patients' fitness to help them improve or maintain good health. They will help patients with heart disease and other chronic conditions, like pulmonary disease, regain their health. This position requires proficiency in cardiac and pulmonary care to ensure the delivery of high service standards while promoting excellent patient experience.

What you will do in this role:

  • Utilizes the systematic process of assessment, implementation and evaluation while caring for individual patients and families.
  • Demonstrates appropriate judgment, priority setting skills, and decision-making abilities.
  • Consistently and effectively organizes and utilizes available resources.
  • Communicates effectively with patients in a caring and empathetic manner regarding their diagnosis, plan of care and goals of treatment.
  • Communicates effectively with referring physicians regarding the status of their patients receiving therapy.
  • Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers.
  • Attends departmental and hospital meetings, rounding (such as barrier rounds), consultations or conferences as required to contribute to patient care.
  • Works within a team to improve the effectiveness of service delivery and positive outcome measures.
  • Maintains up to date documentation in accordance with standards of practice.
  • Punctual and complete attendance with hours of employment, work schedule, documentation, meetings, and conferences.
  • Maintains and provides documentation to Valley Regional Medical Center of current professional licensure and CPR certification and meets annual competency standards.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional associations.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Assists in development of clinical educational programs.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor of Science with an emphasis on Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, and/or Kinesiology.
  • National fitness related certification preferred.
  • Clinical experience in a pulmonary setting is required
  • CCRP certification is preferred within 2 years of employment.
  • BCLS required; ACLS preferred
  • Must be able to work weekdays
