Responsible for planning and executing facility decommissioning and environmental remediation projects. Creates scopes, schedules and budgets in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. May provide oversight of 3rd party resources executing site activities. Interfaces with internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.

The Laboratory Chemist is responsible for providing technical support to both the laboratory and refinery. Within the laboratory they ensure all testing complies with method and regulatory requirements, which includes method development, QA/QC oversight, and instrument troubleshooting. They will also work with engineering and operations to troubleshoot refinery issues by determining appropriate laboratory testing and/or perform specialized testing that is not part of the routine testing provided by the lab. Other expectations of the chemist will include working on special projects, which include, but are not limited to, opex reduction, laboratory optimization, and lab consultation for engineering projects.

Responsibilities:
• Perform specialized testing for process stream monitoring and optimization, environmental compliance, and special projects
• Selection, purchase, and implementation of new equipment/instrumentation
• Instrument maintenance including calibrations and routine preventative maintenance
• Ensure compliance to method and regulatory requirements, including training, QA/QC oversight, and maintenance/calibration documentation
• Consults with Technical, Operations, Maintenance, and Chevron research divisions to select/design appropriate testing for plant optimization and troubleshooting
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, including opex reduction, laboratory optimization, and engineering projects

This role is not eligible for expatriate assignment.   • The anticipated salary range for this position is $88,900 - $152,500.
