GIS Biologist
Plateau Land & Wildlife is seeking a GIS Technician to join our in-office team in Dripping Springs, Texas or San Antonio locations. This position plays an important role in supporting our wildlife biologist and land management specialist by creating maps, managing data and helping keep projects organized for our clients.
Responsibilities:
* Create clear, accurate maps to support 1-D-1 wildlife management plans and landowner reports.
* Maintain and organize GIS data, including shapefiles and project layers for use in client deliverables
* Assist with integrating GPS data, aerial imagery and other spatial data into ArcGIS Pro.
* Ensure mapping products are consistent and professional across multiple projects.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Geography, Wildlife Biology, Natural Resources or related field (or relevant experience)
* Strong experience with GIS software (ArcGIS Pro preferred)
* Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
* Comfortable juggling multiple projects and working in a fast-paced environment during filing season
* Good communication skills and willingness to work closely with a team.
Preferred Skills
* Experience working with Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet tools
* Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM/database systems is a plus.
* Basic Python scripting skills for automating GIS tasks is helpful but not required
