Lead EHS Engineer (Environmental)

General Summary:

Ensure regulatory and environmental/safety requirements met through proper design, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of systems. Manage environmental programs as assigned.

  • Create and coordinate implementation of environmental programs for business unit based on regulatory requirement
  • Oversee and manage RCRA Large Quantity Generator waste program.
  • Manage sites MCAQD Non-Title V Air Permit.
  • Perform sampling and prepare reports for Industrial Wastewater Permit
  • Ensure ISO 14001 certificate is maintained.
  • Preparation of regulatory reports including EPCRA TRI and Tier II reports
  • Interpret, communicate and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Work closely with regulators to maintain relationships.
  • Develop EHS training materials and deliver both classroom and OJT training.
  • Develop and approve plans for area of expertise.
  • Prepare Management of Change (MOC) documentation.


Profile:

  • Ability to coordinate complex programs. Ability to manage people without direct supervisory authority.
  • Data collection and analysis.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management.
  • Computer skills;
  • Proven strong verbal and written communication skills; Strong leadership ability; In-depth knowledge of technical and specialized EHS processes, policies and procedures (incl. technical degree);
  • Extensive experience with EPA and/or OSHA compliance; Experience with ISO or TS requirements and/or related quality systems
  • Investigate incidents and determine root cause.
  • Leads development of corrective actions.
  • Support business team unit and attend meetings.
  • Complete regulatory inspections for various programs.



Education:

  • Requires technical Bachelor's degree (engineering or science) or related field preferred or equivalent experience



Experience:

  • Requires 6 plus years advanced experience in environmental compliance or engineering with extensive experience in area of specialization.
  • Prefer experience in manufacturing and/or chemical processing. CHMM is preferred.
  • Experience working at a PSM and ISO 14001 covered facility and is desired.



Physical Requirements:

  • Must have hand dexterity at moderate speed with accuracy for half of each day. Requires steady, active effort and continuous walking.
  • Must be able to lift 15 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to work in all areas of the plant.
