Position Summary

The Medical Affairs Communication Specialist at Empower will be at the forefront of shaping and refining the educational and promotional narrative around our compounded products and services. This pivotal role demands a robust foundation in medical knowledge, a keen eye for detail, and exceptional collaborative skills to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams. In this role, you will be entrusted with the critical evaluation and enhancement of medical content across many platforms, including patient education materials, product documentation, and promotional literature. Your expertise will contribute to the development of a strategic content plan that addresses key healthcare topics, patient concerns, and industry trends, thereby positioning Empower as a thought leader in the pharmaceutical compounding field.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts thorough reviews of medical content, including patient education materials, product documentation, and promotional materials, to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with relevant guidelines.
  • Works with the various cross-functional departments to provide research for onboarding new clinics, maintaining clinic relations and assisting in clinical discussions.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and content creators to refine medical content and align it with the latest scientific evidence and best practices.
  • Establishes a feedback loop with customers and healthcare professionals to gather insights on content effectiveness and areas for improvement, informing future content strategies.
  • Articulates statistical tests and analyses to determine statistical relevance.
  • Writes, edits, and publishes clinical trial overviews, journal clubs, knowledge center articles, etc.
  • Uses proper project management tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.) to communicate regular status updates on all ongoing efforts.
  • Works closely with the Regulatory Affairs and Medical Affairs teams to ensure that all medical content adheres to regulatory requirements and standards for compounding pharmacies.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in medical regulations and guidelines, integrating updates into existing content as needed. governs healthcare and pharmaceutical 503A and 503B compounding.
  • Supports business relationships that positively impact our ability to continue delivering our products to the current markets in which we operate.
  • Collaborates with Marketing, Sales, Regulatory Affairs, and other teams to ensure consistency and accuracy in messaging across various platforms.
  • Provides medical expertise and guidance to support the development of marketing materials and educational resources.
  • Contributes to the training and development of internal teams on medical and scientific aspects related to compounded products.
  • Provides education, training, and support to all pharmacy employees.
  • Stays informed of new medical research, treatment options, and industry trends to enhance the overall knowledge base within the organization.
  • Drives the development of a strategic content plan that addresses key healthcare topics, patient concerns, and industry trends relevant to compounding pharmacy services, aimed at educating and engaging our target audience.
  • Optimizes all medical content for digital platforms, including SEO optimization, to enhance online visibility and user engagement.
  • Develops patient-centric content strategies, including interactive guides, video content, and infographics, to empower patients with knowledge about their health and medication options.
  • Implements a continuous quality improvement process for content creation and management, involving regular content reviews and updates to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Communicates Empower's innovations, research activities, and industry contributions through engaging content aimed at a non-specialist audience.
  • Articulates statistical tests and analyses to determine statistical relevance and assists in the investigation and research of new product requests.
  • Works with the Medical Affairs team on all ongoing projects.
  • Works on research and development of new product launches.
  • Fosters collaborative initiatives with healthcare professionals, industry experts, and academic institutions to co-create content that enhances Empower's credibility and informational value.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Understands pharmacology andpathophysiology of therapeutical areas including but not limited to:Dermatology, IV Therapy, Women and Men's Health, Hormone Replacement, WeightManagement and Fertility
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements governing medical content in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Detail-oriented with a critical eye for accuracy and consistency.
  • Proficiency in content management systems and digital optimization tools, with the ability to adapt content for various digital platforms to maximize reach and engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with project management tools such as Jira and Confluence, ensuring efficient workflow and timely updates on content development projects.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to critically assess medical research, guidelines, and trends to inform content development and strategy.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, or equivalent) is required.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in medical content review, preferably in a pharmaceutical or compounding pharmacy setting required.
  • Experience in translating complex scientific information into patient-friendly language, making difficult concepts accessible to a lay audience.
  • Experience in SEO strategies and principles, ensuring that all content is optimized for search engines to enhance visibility and user engagement.
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy preferred.
