Job Summary / Purpose:

Essential Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Precise Testing & Reporting: Perform and report waived, moderately complex, and highly complex test procedures on patient specimens, strictly adhering to our Section's Standard Operating Procedures to ensure accurate and timely results. This work is foundational to the quality care we provide.
  • Patient-Centered Excellence: Offer excellent patient care through the thoughtful clinical correlation of results, proactive identification of patterns of bias, rapid notification of critical values to appropriate caregivers, and efficient completion of all testing within established turn-around-time limits.
  • Operational Integrity: Ensure that major automated equipment is fully operational by performing required maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting procedures, and timely contacting instrument vendors for assistance or repair, embodying our value of integrity.
  • Quality Assurance: Execute required calibration and quality control procedures, maintaining meticulous records to confirm all tests are performed within established parameters, thereby upholding our commitment to excellence.
  • Proficiency & Growth: Perform proficiency testing as assigned and thoughtfully review results with laboratory clinical leaders, contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Advancing Technology: Assist in the evaluation and generation of compliant documentation for the validation of new procedures and equipment, ensuring our physicians have access to the most current laboratory technology for the common good of our patients.
  • Continuous Learning & Collaboration: Participate in opportunities for continuing education and/or teaching and training, enhancing technical skills for students, trainees, coworkers, and self, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Resource Stewardship: Be responsible for the inventory of supplies, including monitoring, ordering, and organized placement of received supplies, demonstrating responsible stewardship of our ministry's resources.
  • Seamless Workflow: Ensure all assigned work is completed and ongoing issues are resolved or appropriately transitioned to incoming staff within the scheduled shift, promoting efficiency and collaboration.
  • Professional Humankindness: As a representative of CommonSpirit Health, utilize professionalism and humankindness in all communications - whether via email, instant messaging, telephone, or face-to-face interactions - with physicians, hospital staff, patients, coworkers, other stakeholders in laboratory operations, and all members of the general public.
  • Regulatory Adherence: Adhere to all regulatory requirements, upholding the highest standards of compliance and patient safety.



Job Requirements

Requires:

  • Baccalaureate degree in medical technology from a program or institution accredited by a recognized regional or national accreditation agency required.
  • Alternative Baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a recognized regional or national accreditation agency, or an equivalent degree from a foreign institution as certified by a foreign transcript evaluation agency approved by AMT, and shall have completed at least 35 semester hours of coursework across various subjects related to the clinical laboratory sciences, such as biological science, microbiology, organic chemistry, biochemistry, mathematics, etc.


and shall have either:

  • Completed an accredited medical technology training program following the earning of the baccalaureate degree referenced above, or Completed a minimum of one year of approved clinical laboratory experience.
