Medical Physicist (4358) RADIATION THERAPY RICHMOND

SUMMARY:

The Staff Medical Physicist serves as a member of the radiation therapy physics team; remains familiar with the physical and geometric characteristics of radiation producing equipment and radioactive sources commonly employed in the Radiation Therapy department; is primarily responsible for maintaining the continuity of quality assurance procedures in Radiation Therapy and assisting in the continuity of treatment planning under the direction of the Senior Medical Physicist and Department Manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Formal training which will be indicated by a Masters degree in physics-related field; clinical experience in radiation therapy; ABR Board certification or eligibility in radiation therapy physics - must obtain ABR certification before eligibility expires; excellent verbal communication skills.

PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:

Physical guidelines include exposure to electrical, radiation, chemical, bio-hazardous materials; ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lift, move and transport patients and materials; manual dexterity and motor coordination; articulate speech; read and understand medical information; visual acuity and ability to distinguish colors.
