Location: Indianapolis, IN (On-site)
Duration: 12+ Months Contract
Pay Rate: $31.14/hour on 1099
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST
Interview Type: In-person


Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Microbiologist to perform microbiological and molecular testing on clinical specimens. The role involves identification of enteric pathogens using culture-based and advanced molecular techniques, while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform microbiological testing including culture, biochemical tests, serotyping, and EIA
  • Conduct molecular testing such as PCR and Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS)
  • Isolate and identify organisms including Salmonella, E. coli, Shigella, Vibrio, Listeria, and Campylobacter
  • Extract nucleic acids using manual and automated methods
  • Analyze, interpret, and report test results accurately
  • Maintain laboratory documentation and records in compliance with CLIA regulations
  • Perform quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) procedures
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Monitor inventory and ensure availability of lab supplies
  • Assist in preparing reports and data analysis
  • Follow all laboratory safety protocols and procedures

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science (Biology or related field preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of microbiology principles and laboratory practices
  • Experience handling clinical specimens and performing lab testing
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety standards and CLIA regulations
  • Ability to operate laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of laboratory experience
  • Experience in a molecular biology laboratory
  • Hands-on experience with PCR, sequencing, or similar techniques

Work Environment:

  • On-site laboratory setting
  • Exposure to biological and potentially hazardous specimens
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
