Position Description

The Department of Engineering Technology at Texas State University has one opening for a Faculty of Instruction vacancy at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor in the field of Environmental Engineering Technology.

We seek a dedicated educator with experience in university-level instruction and professional practice to support our mission of delivering industry-aligned curriculum. The successful candidate will be expected to teach relevant undergraduate courses for students preparing for a career in the environmental engineering technology industry or related careers; advise students in curriculum and career choices; work with student organizations and/or mentor student competition teams; participate in industry associations that represent the industry; and participate in service activities in support of the university, the department, and the profession.

Workload for Faculty of Instruction includes teaching four courses each semester depending on area of expertise and department needs and fulfilling service and advising obligations appropriate to the rank.

The preferred start date for this position is Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.

Required Qualifications

For all ranks:

  • Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering, or in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering, with an emphasis in Environmental Engineering, or other closely related construction discipline.
  • An undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering from an ABET accredited institution, or a closely related field from a similarly accredited institution.
  • Minimum of two years undergraduate teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated current and contemporary competence in their teaching content area.
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills.



For the rank of Associate Professor of Instruction - Appointment to the rank of professor of instruction may be extended to individuals with the following additional qualifications:

  • At least five years of full-time effective and sustained teaching and learning contributions, including advances in curriculum, pedagogy, course delivery, or similar innovation.
  • Demonstrated record of excellent teaching abilities.



For the rank of Professor of Instruction - Appointment to the rank of professor of instruction may be extended to individuals with the following additional qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of full-time effective and sustained teaching and learning contributions, including advances in curriculum, pedagogy, course delivery, or similar innovation.
  • Recognition of leadership and contributions in teaching and instructional activities (e.g., awards, accreditation reviews, curriculum innovation, program coordination, scholarly contributions).



Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional licensure pertinent to the discipline.
  • U.S.-based industry experience in environmental and/or civil design and construction.
