Project Chemist (Mass Spectrometry)

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a motivated Project Chemist to support routine LC-MS-based analysis in a fast-paced laboratory environment. This role is responsible for the timely and reliable execution of LC-MS/MS workflows, including sample preparation, instrument operation, troubleshooting, and data review. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with minimal supervision, maintaining instrument performance, and delivering high-quality analytical results in a timely manner.

What You Will Do

  • Perform routine LC-MS based assays including peptide mapping, intact mass analysis and protein/small molecule quantitation in a timely and compliant manner
  • Prepare samples, standards, mobile phases, buffers, and other laboratory solutions
  • Operate and maintain LC-MS/MS and HPLC/UHPLC systems following SOPs
  • Conduct routine analytical runs and monitor instrument performance
  • Review, organize, interpret, and document analytical data and laboratory records
  • Identify and report unexpected test results, providing initial troubleshooting where applicable.
  • Perform system suitability, calibration, and QC checks
  • Troubleshoot basic instrument and method issues
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness, inventory, and organization
  • Support method optimization and validation activities as appropriate
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to support project timelines and deliverables

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field
  • Hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS instrumentation and workflows
  • Experience with mass spectrometry-based protein and peptide characterization, including sample preparation, instrument operation, and data analysis, preferred
  • Experience with LC-MS/MS quantitation using MRM and/or SIR acquisition modes preferred
  • Hands-on experience with HPLC or UHPLC systems
  • Familiarity with biological and/or chemical sample matrices
  • Experience with basic wet chemistry and sample preparation techniques
  • Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ICH)
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and documentation practices
  • Comfortable working with laboratory software and data management systems
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Experience

  • Hands-on experience with HPLC, UPLC, and MS instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of peptide synthesis and purification techniques.
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting.
  • Understanding of protein chemistry and post-translational modifications.
