Position Summary

POSTING FOR UNMC EMPLOYEES ONLY

To coordinate clinical patient care and research for investigators in the Divisions of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Cardiovascular Medicine.
This individual will need to plan, organize, implement, document, and evaluate clinical research activities.
This individual will be responsible for maintaining good clinical practices involving cardiovascular, thoracic surgery and vascular surgery research trials along with HUD and Emergency/Compassionate Use applications. Assists HVCRO Operations Administrator with day-to-day oversight of the Research Nurse Coordinators.

Nursing experience with at least one year of clinical trials/research experience

Registered nurse with current licensure or licensure eligible to practice in Nebraska

Required Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-Ability to perform physical assessments and patient teaching as appropriate to research protocols.
-Ability to work effectively with other team members and mentor/train new staff.
-Solid organizational skills with attention to details
-Flexibility in work hours to manage patient and study protocol workload
-Knowledge of current nursing procedure, techniques and practices
-Ability to train, evaluate, and monitor other nursing research staff within the HVCRO.
-Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
-Utilization of knowledge and skills related to meeting age-specific needs of the patient population served within the copy of the job description: Age specific populations served include Adult (18-65) and Geriatric (65 and older).
-Clinical research certification or ability to obtain certification within 1 year of hire
